She has played alongside many inspiring musicians including Ke ith Nichols, Jeff Barnhart, Remi Harris Trio, Spats Langham, Daryl Sherman, Enrico Tomasso, Matthias Seuffert, Duke Heitger, Daryl Sherman, Cecile McLorin-Salvant, Andy Schumm, the Tony Oreshko Trio, Michael McQuaid, Josh Duffee, Frans Sjostrom, Guy Barker, Mike Piggott, Mellow Baku, Morten Gunnar Larson, Lars Frank, Martin Litton, Robert Fowler, David Boeddinghaus and Jean-Francois Bonnel.
James and I are delighted that our Venuti/Lang inspired duo has been chosen for Jazz North's Northern Line touring support programme. This means venues, promoters and festivals can book the duo at a subsidised fee for performances between September 2017 and December 2018. We have already visited some wonderful venues and festivals as part of the scheme and we currently have a few subsidized spaces free for bookings in 2018. Information on how to book is available on the Jazz North website www.jazznorth.org/
We'll be bringing our new CD, 'Birkett & Fisk play Venuti & Lang' to all of our gigs and we are in the process of planning a special CD launch night - more details to follow! You can also buy the album online here: www.birkettandfisk.com/shop.html
Paul Edis's Ushaw Ensemble were also selected for Northern Line so I'm looking forward to doing more performances of the St Cuthbert Suite and new work for this unique line-up!
On April 28th I'll be at The Cadogan Hall in London playing with The Jazz Repertory Company in the fabulous 'Midnight in Mayfair' show directed by Keith Nichols featuring the music of British Dance Bands of the 1930s. I'll also be playing with Keith at Pershore Jazz Festival in August - I'm looking forward to visiting this festival for the first time!
I've recently set up a mailing list so if you would like to receive gig updates and news straight to your inbox please click on the link at the top of this page.
Hope to see you at a gig soon!
"In a concert packed with moments to savour, just to hear Barker’s recreation of Bix’s sublime solo on ‘Singing the Blues’ was a joy but then so too was violinist Emma Fisk’s recall of Joe Venuti on the small group version of ‘Raggin’ the Scale’, complete with David Horniblow’s bass saxophone and the guitar work of Martin Wheatley."
